Disney+ costs only $7.99/month for most regions, and it’s one of the most popular streaming services out there. It has access to almost a century’s worth of movies and shows with new releases and original content. It’s popular despite being rather new compared to OG services like Netflix and Hulu.
Disney+ is getting a pretty significant price hike
Well, Disney+ was a trouper these past few years, but even this streaming service was bound to increase its price. We just didn’t know it was going to be by this much! According to Disney (via The Verge), the company is going to raise its price in the US from $7.99/month to $10.99/month. That’s a jump of about 38%. This jump in price won’t only affect Disney+. As you may know, there’s also a package deal where you can bundle Disney+ with Hulu and ESPN+. Guess what, all of those prices are going up as well (is nothing sacred?). An individual separate ad-supported Hulu subscription will cost you $7.99/month (up from $6.99/month). An ad-free subscription will jump from 12.99/month to $14.99/month. When it comes to ESPN+, an ad-supported plan will jump from $6.99/month to $9.99/month. The bundled plans will also see a price jump. A package with Disney+ (ad-free), Hulu (with ads), and ESPN+ (with ads) will jump from $13.99/month to $14.99/month. Getting a bundle with those three services all with ads will cost you $12.99/month. On the top of the scale, there’s a bundle where you can get Disney+ and Hulu ad-free and ESPN+ with ads that cost $19.99/month. If you want a plan with just Disney+ and Hulu both with ads, then you can get the $9.99/month plan. Speaking of ads, Disney announced that it was going to introduce an ad-supported tier in December. Well, that standalone ad-supported tier will cost you $7.99/month. So, the “cheaper” ad-supported tier will cost as much as the regular plan now.
