This smartphone is basically the same as the HONOR Magic4 Pro, with one notable exception, its cameras. The HONOR Magic4 Ultimate comes with an upgraded rear camera setup.
The HONOR Magic4 Ultimate tops DxOMark rankings
Before we get into the details, this phone actually managed to impress folks over at DxOMark. The HONOR Magic4 Ultimate is currently the top-ranked smartphone on the company’s list.
So, let’s talk about the highlight here, the cameras. There are four cameras included on the back. A 50-megapixel wide-angle camera with a customized 8P lens. This is the phone’s main camera. It packs in a massive 1/1.12-inch sensor, and an f/1.6 aperture lens. That customized 8P lens comes with a 37-percent improvement in center sharpness, and a 30-percent improvement in edge sharpness, says the company. A 64-megapixel ultrawide camera (126-degree FoV) comes with a Dual Free-Form Lens. A 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (3.5x optical zoom, 100x digital zoom) also sits on the back, and the same goes for a 50-megapixel Spectrum Enhanced Camera.
It comes with a brand new, custom-made image processor
On top of all that, the HONOR Magic4 Ultimate does pack in a brand-new, custom-made image processor. If other flagships are any indication, that image processor could make all the difference. The phone also comes with support for an all-new professional-grade video format: MagicLog2. This format is custom-developed, and enables the capturing of 15-percent higher dynamic range for video. It is combined with the new 3D LUT (Look Up Table) support. HONOR claims that this phone can take “stunning HDR10+ video even in low light”. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC fuels the device. A 6.81-inch QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display sits on the front side of the device, and it is curved. The phone comes with Android 12 pre-installed, with HONOR’s Magic UI 6.0 on top of it.
100W wired & wireless charging is supported
The device also supports 100W both wired and wireless charging, and much more. The rest of its specs are basically the same as the ones on the HONOR Magic4 Pro, it seems. You can check out its specs here. HONOR says that the Magic4 Ultimate is coming to the Chinese market later this year, and that it will cost CNY7,999 ($1,257). Chances are this phone won’t launch globally, but we’ll see.
