Speaking of the Dimensity 920, it comes with an octa-core CPU featuring Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. With the Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, the new Dimensity 920 will offer up to 9% faster gaming performance than the Dimensity 900 SoC. The Mali-G68 GPU is said to feature all the technologies of the bigger Mali-G78 but with better power efficiency.
MediaTek announces Dimensity 920 & Dimensity 810 5G mobile processors
The chipset supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage. MediaTek has integrated “Smart Adaptive Displays” technology into the Dimensity 920. This technology adjusts the display refresh rate based on game or UI action. It increases the refresh rate while playing games or scrolling through websites for a smoother experience. When it’s not necessary, the chipset will automatically decrease the refresh rate to offer better power efficiency. The Dimensity 920 chipset packs an ISP that supports a 108MP primary camera with zero shutter lag and supports multi-camera arrays, 4K HDR video, and single-camera AI-bokeh. As mentioned earlier, the Dimensity 920 SoC comes with an integrated 5G module with carrier aggregation and dual 5G SIM support. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 with 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth 5.2.
Both these new chipsets support Full HD 120Hz displays
Coming to the Dimensity 810, it looks like a stepdown version of the Dimensity 920. The CPU on this chipset includes Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores, and the GPU uses the Mali-G57 with 2 cores. It supports LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 flash storage. In terms of connectivity, the chipset is limited to last-gen Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. However, it still supports Full HD+ displays with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The ISP on the Dimensity 810 supports up to 64MP primary camera with AI-color and AI-bokeh enhancements. There is also a dedicated facial recognition engine. It also supports 5G in all major frequencies along with dual-carrier aggregation including mixed duplex FDD+TDD. Both these new Dimensity chipsets will support the third generation of call and data concurrency. It allows the user to use 5G data from the primary SIM and answer calls on the secondary 5G SIM. According to MediaTek, the smartphones featuring the new Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 chipsets will start shipping in Q3 this year.
