The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is picking up the latest update with firmware version F926BXXU1AUJ7. While the build number may vary by country, the contents should remain unchanged. Talking about contents, this update does seem to bring some user-facing changes, new features, and/or improvements to the foldable. Perhaps the same goodies that arrived in the Galaxy Z Flip 3 with this month’s security update. The clamshell folding phone also recently started receiving the latest SMR globally. It picked up the ability to capture Portrait images of pets with the new update. The feature works with both front and rear cameras let you use customized effects for pets. Some effects can only be applied after an image is captured though. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is likely getting the same feature as well. Unfortunately, we don’t have a changelog handy to confirm that. But we can confirm that the October SMR brings fixes for well over 60 privacy and security issues. Samsung earlier this month published the updated security bulletin revealing that the majority of the issues were found in Google’s version of Android. The new update also patched 32 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items though. These are security issues specific to the Korean firm’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Samsung said at least nine of the vulnerabilities patched this month were of critical severity.
October security update is now rolling out to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 globally
Samsung began rolling out the October SMR to its devices in the last week of September. The Galaxy S21 series received the new update first, followed by the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 foldables. Since then, the latest security update has hit dozens of Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Meanwhile, the company continued to gradually expand the rollout to more regions. And as of today, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is starting to pick up the October security update globally. If you’re rocking the latest Samsung foldable, you can expect to receive the new SMR soon if you haven’t already. You can check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update » Download and install on your phone.
