You’ll seemingly be able to change the screen resolution on the Pixel 7 Pro
He tweeted out that the Pixel 7 Pro display drivers surfaced, suggesting that you’ll be able to tweak the phone’s screen resolution. To be more accurate, you’ll be able to change it from 1440p to 1080p, if you want. This is not surprising at all, as Android 13 has a new setting page for resolution switching. This was reported back in April, actually, so it’s something we did expect will arrive with Android 13. And, as most of you know, the Pixel 7 Pro will come with Android 13 pre-installed.

The Pixel 7 likely won’t offer such an option, for a good reason
What about the Pixel 7, will it also offer such a setting? Well, the Pixel 7 is expected to arrive with a fullHD+ display, not a QHD+ one. Therefore, this setting likely won’t be on offer. There’s a slim chance there will be a setting to move it to an HD+ resolution, but it’s highly unlikely. Not many people would want to do that. Why would you want to change the Pixel 7 Pro’s screen resolution from 1440p to 1080p? Well, one may argue that you can’t really tell the difference between the two, at least most people can’t. With 1080p resolution, the phone has fewer pixels to push, and thus there’s less strain on the device. That does make it easier for the phone to function at full speed, and you may even see some battery gains. The Pixel 7 Pro will be an immensely powerful handset, so using it with 1440p resolution should be a piece of cake. The battery gains between the two won’t even be that noticeable, most likely, but we’ll see.
Both devices are expected to arrive in October
We’ll have to wait until October, when the Pixel 7 Pro is expected to launch, alongside the Pixel 7. There’s a slim chance it may happen in September, but we’ll see, it’s one of the two months.
