Both games are available across multiple platforms and are Riot’s first two games to actually cost money. As every other game it’s released up until now have been free-to-play. This marks a pretty big shift in Riot’s plans for games going forward. And alongside other projects like its massive hit animated series on Netflix called Arcane, the company has found new avenues for profit.
Riot Forge launches Ruined King on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox
Ruined King is based on the League Of Legends universe, and is a single-player RPG with turn-based combat and multiple playable characters. It’ll run you $30 to pick up on any of the available platforms. Though, there is a Deluxe Edition version for $40 if you want some extras. The Deluxe Edition includes ruined skins for some of the characters. Additionally, you get a sword for Yasuo and some other cool in-game rewards. The game will be available on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. As well as Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. There will also be PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game coming soon, and upgrades to those are free if you buy the PS4 or Xbox One version for those newer consoles. As for Hextech Mayhem, it’ll cost you $10 if you want to pick it up. It’s available for PC via Steam, GOG or the Epic Games Store, and Nintendo Switch. However, it’ll be available on mobile via Netflix at some point in the near future. And it’s included for free with the Netflix membership if you have one. So you may want to wait.
More games are on the way
Riot Forge has a whole crop of games coming, all based on the LoL universe and focusing on specific characters. One of those upcoming games is CONV/RGENCE: A League Of Legends Story from developers Double Stallion Games, which was shown off at The Game Awards back in 2019. The game is now confirmed to be launching in 2022, and there’s a new trailer to watch. Another upcoming game to look out for is A Song of Nunu: A League Of Legends Story coming from Tequila Works.
