Samsung talks about the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 design

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 sees a minor change in shape from the preceding model. It is now wider and shorter, making for a boxier design. This enables a wider outer screen, closer to a regular smartphone. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is pretty much identical to last year’s Flip, but Samsung has made the edges flatter. Samsung says these changes allow for a much more comfortable grip. The company has also made its foldables thinner and lighter without compromising on durability. The result is, that they are now more comfortable to carry in our pockets. The glossy metallic frame, coupled with the matte finish to the back glass, give the devices a premium look. Speaking of which, Samsung is also offering a new wave of colors on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. The former comes in Graygreen, Beige, and Phantom Black, while the latter gets Pink Gold, Bora Purple, Blue, and Graphite colorways. Of course, we aren’t considering the Bespoke Edition here, which gives you around 70 unique color combinations to choose from. If these colorways are not enough, Samsung also offers a wide range of case options. You have cases featuring rings, straps, stands, and whatnot. Whatever your lifestyle and usage demands, Samsung has got you covered. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 supports the S Pen (optional accessory bought separately) and there are case options to keep it as well.

Samsung also talks about the enhanced user experience

Foldable smartphones have yet to see wide adoption, not just because they are expensive but because of durability concerns. Granted, Samsung has already achieved waterproofing on its foldables. No other brand can do that just yet. We also get Gorilla Glass protection and an Armor Aluminum frame. But the flexible screen is still very susceptible to scratches and that isn’t ideal on a  $1,000 Galaxy Z Flip 4, let alone the $1,800 Galaxy Z Fold 4. Samsung needs to push on the user experience side of things to make foldables mainstream, and it’s doing precisely that. The Galaxy Z Flip 4’s external screen is much more usable now. You get tailored widgets for various apps so you can quickly check on them without un-flipping the phone. You can reply to messages, make contactless payments, control smart home gadgets, and do much more. Flex Mode also now lets you use the lower half of the screen as a touchpad and supports a range of gestures. Talk about ease of use. Switch to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and we have a multitasking monster. It features an enhanced taskbar that lets you pin your favorite apps and quickly switch between them as you do on a computer. You can open as many as three different apps at once, and those include gaming apps too. So you can continue chatting on WhatsApp or Messenger while you play games. Both new foldables now offer flagship-grade cameras. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 boasts pretty much the same camera setup as the Galaxy S22+ and that’s a big thing. Improved battery life and charging speed means the devices run longer as well. It remains to be seen if these improvements will drive the sales of the latest Samsung foldables amid a global economic crisis.
