In case you don’t know, Google had its Pixel event yesterday where it unveiled the aforementioned phones along with the new Pixel Watch. This is the company’s first wearable device, and it’s rather pricey. If you want to know more about it, check out this link.
Pixel 7 Pro teardown shows that not much has changed
This teardown video comes to us courtesy of the PBKreviews YouTube channel. It’s a tech channel producing reviews, how-to’s, and other educational videos, so you should definitely check them out. In the teardown of the Pixel 7 shows, we see the proper method of taking apart a phone. The announcer begins by heating up the front of the device to weaken the adhesive and taking off the display. After taking off the display, you see the announcer digging through the internals of the phone which includes taking out the battery. Though the battery is not meant to be removed, there are actually some pull tabs that you can use to take it out. Looking at the other internals, we see that a lot of the components can be unscrewed and taken out without any issue. There are some cases where that’s not quite the case. The charging port is actually soldered in place, and this means that replacing it will be difficult. Looking at the internals, we can see that Google did not make many changes between this generation and the last generation. Most of the components are in the same places that they were last year. This should come as no surprise, as both of the phones are extremely similar on the outside. Google mostly focused on refining the design language that it established with the Pixel 6 phones. All in all, PBKreviews gave the pixel 7 Pro a repairability score of 5.5 out of 10. That’s not too bad of a score, however, he did note that the back glass was extremely hard to remove. That’s something to keep in mind if you have a tendency to drop your phone.
