Podcasts on Twitter are organized based on the themes such as News, Music, Sports, and more. This will enable users to easily find podcasts that they may like. Users will be able to “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” a podcast to give Twitter more data about their interests. The company will curate the list with more content that you like, hiding content that you dislike. Of course, Twitter will also use other data about your usage of the platform to determine your interests. “If someone regularly interacts with Vox content on Twitter, they’ll probably see a Vox podcast in a Spaces hub,” the company states. Along with Vox, Twitter’s blog post also mentions podcasts from Bloomberg, The New York Times, NASA, and other prominent personalities, including Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway. It appears Twitter will have a decent collection of podcasts in the offering.

Twitter will offer podcasts and Spaces within the same tab

According to Twitter, 45 percent of people who use its social network platform in the US also listen to podcasts monthly. The company is looking to keep them on its platform by offering podcasts within the app. Twitter was first spotted working on bringing podcasts to the platform in March of this year. The initial sighting suggested it will get a separate tab within the main app. But the company has gone a different route for its implementation. Podcasts and Spaces will co-exist in the same place on Twitter. If you’re not familiar, the latter lets you have live audio conversations. You can create a Space with up to two other co-hosts and an unlimited audience. Hosts can also nominate up to ten speakers from the audience. Twitter is rolling out the redesigned Spaces tab with integrated podcasts in limited testing starting this Thursday, August 25. It will be available to a small group of English-speaking users on Android and iOS apps. The company will further develop this integration based on feedback from the testers. If things go according to plan, we may see a wider rollout of podcasts on Twitter in a few months. We will keep you posted will all the latest information about this development.
